Root Chakra: Centre of Survival

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

The Muladhara Chakra (the root chakra) is the first of 7 in the main chakra system and the starting point , a portal,

of mapping out yourself. This is the centre of survival, the foundation, and without it no other part of ourselves can exist. At least not in a healthy state. That would be like building a house without a solid foundation, without digging into the ground and setting a base for which to build upon. Our root chakra is our root, it is what ties us to the human experience, grounds us in a physical body, and is responsible for our physical survival. Without it we wouldn’t get very far.

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine, is connected to the element of earth, and our sense of smell. It holds our deepest root of childhood, the experiences we’ve had with our families, and our deepest fears. If you are experiencing days filled with anxiety, reoccurring depression, an unstable/unhealthy body weight, and fear of change or the unknown, chances are your root chakra is not in a healthy, balanced state.

Here are 3 things you can do to bring health and balance to your

Muladhara Chakra:

  1. Go for a mindful, barefoot walk in nature

  2. Cook yourself a warm, healthy, wholesome meal and eat it mindfully

  3. Meditate with a grounding crystal such as smoky quartz, black onyx, or tourmaline

When your root chakra is in a healthy state you will feel safe and secure in your own body and life, you will experience a sense of groundedness and presence, and have a healthy and TRUE story of your childhood.

May you feel safe and secure,

Jess xo
